Leave a Legacy

Some donors prefer to give during their lifetime, in order to see and celebrate the impact of their generosity – or to inspire others.
Other donors prefer to make a gift in their estate-planning process, so that, following their demise, the donor can leave a legacy that
will benefit the community for years to come. Either way, the Cortland Free Library is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization that is honored to
receive, and is committed to being a responsible steward of, your financial support.

Donate Books

We accept books and media items that are clean and odor-free. We do not accept computer-related books (past 2-3 years old); dictionaries; encyclopedias; magazines; medical books (past 2-3 years old); Reader’s Digest condensed books; textbooks; VHS tapes.

Please deliver donations to the circulation desk in Adult Services. Donations left at the doorways cannot be considered. The library accepts a limited number of donations due to a lack of storage space; please call ahead if you have more than one or two bags or boxes to see if we can accept them.

Items not added to the library collection will be sold in our popular Friends of the Library book sales.
