Time Travel: Transportation

Features read alouds & activities to engage young readers in a greater understanding & appreciation of local & American history. This month we’ll begin our celebration of America’s upcoming 250th birthday. (Can you say semi quincentennial?) We’ll start by looking at how the first Americans got from one place to another. Buses? Nope. Trains? Nope. Airplanes? Nope. So how DID people travel farther than they could walk or swim? We’ll each have a map of the 13 colonies & will chart which method of transportation would work best on the rivers, mountains, plains, and ocean. Then we’ll make edible land & sea decorations on our colonial cookies. Geared to ages 4 – 8 but all families are welcome. Registration is required. Contact the library to sign up.
