Intro to Yoga

Learn what yoga is, what the benefits are, and how to integrate it into daily life-even if you never roll out a yoga mat. Participants will hear an overview of the 8-Limbs of Ashtanga Yoga and will get the opportunity to briefly practice each. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or a towel to sit on. Chairs will be provided if preferred. No prior experience necessary. Open to ages 13 and up. Registration required.

I was not a fan of yoga the first few times I tried it. After becoming desperate from dealing with the symptoms of a chronic illness, and the stress that goes along with it, my friend gifted me a pass to her yoga studio. With resistance, I went to class. It was a real “ah ha moment” for me. Seven years later, I am still practicing consistently and have become a yoga instructor. My goal in teaching yoga is to introduce people to what has kept me healthy, in the hopes they will uncover what works for them, in their own way and own time. I am a mother and have been a classroom teacher for the past 16 years as well, so I have a special interest in yoga for children, parents, and teachers.

Certification: Vinyasa-200HR (Inlet Yoga, Murrells Inlet, SC)

Favorite Posture: Standing Forward Fold

Hobbies: sharing laughs and conversation with family and friends, yoga, being outdoors, reading, traveling
