Pop-Up Archive Event: Documenting the People’s Record
March 15, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Location: Cortland Free Library Meeting Room
The SUNY Cortland Archives & Special Collections (of Memorial Library) and the Cortland County Historical Society will partner to document the histories of local people from marginalized and underserved populations. The project will create a brave space environment through a series of pop-up archives that allow the community to come in and share documentation or sit with us and engage in short oral history interviews. All are welcome to share their experiences. We will provide on-site digital scanning of materials, we keep the digital copy, you keep the original. These may include scrapbooks, photographs, family histories, diary entries, and more. This project is grant funded and will include a digital record. Oral histories and scanned materials will be made available through Digital Commons at Cortland and New York Heritage, once the materials have been collected and processed. We are looking to provide a more inclusive and culturally responsible record of the University and County by collecting, preserving, and sharing your memories and experiences.
For contact information please reach out to Jeremy Pekarek, Archivist & Instructional Services Librarian, SUNY Cortland (jeremy.pekarek@cortland.edu), and Tabitha Scoville, Director of the Cortland County Historical Society (tscoville@cortlandhistory.org)
